In the lush borassus grassland north of the Nile, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and a variety of antelope are regularly encountered. In the southeast, Rabongo Forest is home to chimpanzees and other rainforest creatures while the River Nile itself hosts one of Africa\'s densest hippo and crocodile populations. Add a dazzling variety of water-birds, including the world\'s most accessible wild population of the rare shoebill stork, and Welcome! to Murchison Falls National Park; an untamed African savannah bisected east to west, for 115 kms, by the mighty river Nile.

And the only one where all of the ‘Big Five’ are to be found; buffalo, elephant, lion and occasional leopard seen above the Nile while rhinos are being bred in a sanctuary south of the park - 40 to 50 of them are lined up for release into the wild by around 2040. Each of the individual accommodation cottages is raised from the ground on supporting pillars and has it’s own deck overlooking the river.  Care has been taken to ensure each of the current six (up to ten in future) cottages has privacy as well as excellent views either up or down stream.  The large, airy en suite thatched cottage have netted windows with opening options, customized solid wooden furniture, hanging mosquito nets and especially selected locally crafted items for the accessories. The lodge is at the heart of the newly formed Wild waters Reserve, a group of mid-stream islands in the Nile, mostly widely recognized as the home for the legendary whitewater rafting on the Nile.   They are also home to river otters, giant monitor lizards and hundreds of species of bird.  The lodge is the centre-piece for a conservation initiative aimed at protecting this pristine riverine environment for future generations, in part by ensuring that the local communities benefit directly from the visitors to the lodge and the protection of these beautiful, heavily forested islands in the Nile.
